Welcome to the Las Vegas Chapter of ASIS
The Las Vegas, Nevada Chapter of ASIS was originally chartered on August 29, 1976. It currently has over 200 members. Among them are security consultants; private investigators; current and former heads of security at major casinos, as well as staff members of casino security operations; ranking members of firms specializing in surveillance, investigations, security service; and active and retired law enforcement from local, state, and federal agencies.
We hold monthly meetings on the 2nd Thursday of each month. These meetings are a great opportunity to network with colleagues and stay current on things around our industry. Every month we bring in a different keynote speaker to speak on relevant security related topics. Members and non-members alike are welcome to attend.
Have you heard of the Security Officer Protection Bill AB100?
In the works is a change to the current Nevada Revised Statutes regarding Assault (NRS 200.471) and battery (NRS 200.481). This change would include “Security Guard” as defined in NRS 648.016 in those professions who receive additional protections.
What this bill states, is that in the list that includes firefighters, taxi drivers, medical professionals, etc., assaults and/or batteries against Security Guard would have the same protection as if the attack were perpetrated against a peace officer.
Information on Assembly Bill No.100
If you support this important legislation that further protects Security Officers then contact your respective Assemblymen/Assemblywomen and State Senators.
