ASIS Las Vegas Chapter Security & Law Enforcement Officer Recognition an Awards Luncheon

Dear Members, 

ASIS Las Vegas Celebrates Security and Law Enforcement Officers!

In Lieu of our December Luncheon. ASIS will be hosting our Annual Security and Law Enforcement Officer Recognition and Awards Banquet!

This is sure to be a fantastic event with some truly amazing honorees!

Andrew Walsh is a Deputy Chief with LVMPD.


Originally from Staten Island, New York, he began his law enforcement career in New York City as a member of the New York City Police Department.

Andrew has held a variety of assignments throughout his career, including Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, Academy Staff Member, Public Information Officer, Internal Affairs Lieutenant, and Captain of Downtown Area Command.

As the Captain of the Downtown Area Command, he led and directed the law enforcement activities of approximately 180 commissioned and civilian employees. The area is home to approximately 65,000 permanent residents, and is a tourist destination for approximately 17 million people annually.

He is currently assigned to Tourist Safety Division (TSD). As the Deputy Chief of TSD, he directly supervises area or bureau commanders; coordinates their work; identifies training needs; participates in the development of strategic plans; develops and oversees the implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and procedures; serves as team leader for complex, multi-year projects; develops and monitors divisional budget; ensures appropriate, necessary disciplinary sanctions are administered; works with legal advisors in the administration of the division; serves as department liaison with heads of other law-enforcement agencies, other jurisdictions, local courts, business, and/or labor. Makes presentations to police and citizen groups. Handles grievances and consults with employee representatives. Reviews and implements appropriate suggestions for improving divisional operations. Chairs committees; develops and monitors the implementation of inter-local agreements.

He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice Administration, and he’s a member of the International Association of the Chiefs of Police and the Police Executive Research Forum.

Andrew and his wife, Janeen, and have been married for 16 years and with one daughter, Emma, who is nine years old. Outside of work he enjoys spending time with his family, running, reading leadership books and crime novels.
